If you love movies and film history then you may want to check out the nearby town of Joliet. Kevin Bacon’s 1999 “Stir of Echoes,” filmed at the Rialto Square Theatre downtown. The architecture and historical character of the building are without compare and it was chosen for just that reason. And, now its history is even richer and more interesting having been the setting for a Hollywood film. This would be a fantastic winter day trip for anyone who is interested in acting, Hollywood, theatre or film.
In the spring and summer, the Dupage River Trail is a lovely open-air attraction that you won’t want to miss. Whether you are a biker, hiker, runner or just a casual walker, this trail provides a lot of beauty, serenity and an escape from the craziness of the outside world. People move to the suburbs for just this – a place to unplug, turn of technology and find yourself in nature and in the beauty of the world around you.
